Get Ready to Grow: 4-H Garden Competition 2026 Begins This October

Barbados

The Barbados 4-H Foundation is getting ready to kick off the Grow with 4-H Garden Competition 2026 this October, giving 4-H Clubs across Barbados another opportunity to put their gardening skills, teamwork and creativity to the test.

Designed to make agriculture practical, engaging and fun, the competition encourages young people to take an active role in growing and maintaining their own garden spaces while developing valuable skills in responsibility, cooperation, food production and environmental stewardship.

Participating clubs will have a six-week growing period to establish and nurture their gardens. Throughout the competition, members will work together to care for their crops, apply good gardening practices and demonstrate what can be achieved through commitment, planning and teamwork.

Once the growing period comes to an end, judging will take place in December 2026, when participating gardens will be assessed according to the official competition criteria. The competition is more than just an opportunity to win prizes. It also supports the Barbados 4-H Foundation’s wider goal of encouraging young people to develop a greater appreciation for agriculture, food security, sustainability and the important role these areas play in Barbados.

So, gather your members, prepare your garden spaces and get ready to grow.
