4-H Members Take Part in Kite-Making Workshop

Sugar Cane Mall, Roebuck Street, Bridgetown

The Barbados 4-H Foundation hosted a Kite-Making Workshop on Saturday, 28th March 2026, giving young 4-H members an opportunity to participate in a creative, hands-on activity while learning the art of kite making.

The workshop was facilitated by Ms. Marsha Burke, a leader of the St. George Lions 4-H Club, who had agreed to support the activity.

Four 4-H members representing three clubs participated in the workshop: Maryssa Harewood of CP Clovers, Neo Joseph of Alleyne Griffins, and Shamir Eversley and Shalea Babb-Grimes of the St. George Lions.

Throughout the session, members were able to engage in the kite-making process and enjoy a practical activity that brought together creativity, learning and fellowship among members from different 4-H clubs.

The workshop formed part of the Barbados 4-H Foundation’s continued efforts to provide young people with engaging, hands-on experiences outside of the traditional classroom environment while creating opportunities for clubs to interact and learn together.

Activities such as the Kite-Making Workshop continue the 4-H tradition of “learning by doing” and provide members with enjoyable opportunities to develop practical skills while connecting with the wider 4-H community.
