Barbados 4-H Moves Fourward with New Youth Curriculum

The Barbados 4-H Foundation officially launched its 4-H Fourward Curriculum on 28th November 2024, marking an important step in strengthening the Foundation’s youth development programme.
The 4-H Fourward Curriculum provides a structured framework through which young 4-H members can participate in hands-on learning experiences while developing practical knowledge and life skills. The programme is built around four key areas: Agriculture and Natural Resources, Healthy Lifestyle Skills, Leadership and Citizenship, and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
Through the curriculum, 4-H clubs are encouraged to expose members to activities and projects from at least two of these areas, helping young people explore their interests while building confidence, responsibility, teamwork and problem-solving skills. The programme continues the 4-H tradition of learning by doing, giving members opportunities to apply what they learn through practical activities and projects.
The launch represented an important milestone for the Barbados 4-H Foundation as it continues to modernise and expand the learning opportunities available to young people across Barbados. The curriculum also supports the Foundation’s wider commitment to preparing youth to become knowledgeable, responsible and productive members of their communities.
Through 4-H Fourward, members are encouraged to develop their Head, Heart, Hands and Health while gaining skills and experiences that can support their personal, educational and professional development.
The launch signals a new chapter for Barbados 4-H as the Foundation continues its mission “To Make the Best Better.”
