The Barbados 4-H Foundation was among eight organisations recognised at the Barbados Environmental Sustainability Fund (BESF) Inaugural Grant Award Ceremony, held on 24th November 2025 at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre. The ceremony marked the first round of grants awarded through BESF’s competitive grant-making programme, with approximately BBD $1.2 million in financing presented across the eight selected initiatives.

The Barbados 4-H Foundation was awarded BBD $95,184 to support the Climate Change Project on Rainfall Observation (CCPRO), a youth-led initiative designed to strengthen climate education while engaging young people in rainfall observation, environmental monitoring and national climate data collection.

CCPRO will give participating students opportunities to develop practical skills in climate science, weather monitoring and environmental data collection, while contributing to a greater understanding of rainfall patterns and climate change in Barbados. Through the project, students will also participate in the construction and maintenance of school-based weather stations and contribute rainfall information that can support wider climate awareness and resilience.

For the Barbados 4-H Foundation, the grant represents an important investment in youth-led climate action and practical environmental education, supporting the organisation’s continued efforts to equip young people with the knowledge and skills needed to become active environmental stewards.

Through CCPRO, the Foundation looks forward to working alongside its partners, participating schools, educators and young people to translate this support into meaningful climate action across Barbados.

Our Climate. Our Action. Our 4-H Future.
