Growing a Greener Future: Barbados 4-H Celebrates Arbor Day

The Barbados 4-H Foundation celebrated Arbor Day through a series of activities promoting agriculture, environmental awareness and youth involvement, encouraging young people to develop a greater appreciation for plants, food production and caring for the environment.
At St. Albans Primary School, students participated in a hands-on seedling planting demonstration. During the activity, they learned basic planting techniques while planting lettuce and okra seedlings, giving them an opportunity to put agricultural knowledge into practice.
The Foundation was also pleased to receive a thoughtful Arbor Day token of appreciation from a member of the Springer Memorial School Eagles 4-H Club. The contribution consisted of a variety of seedlings and reflected the spirit of sharing and continued support within the 4-H movement.
Continuing the celebration, the Barbados 4-H Foundation donated a variety of seeds to All Saints Nursery School, encouraging young students to become involved in agriculture and begin developing an appreciation for growing their own food and caring for the natural environment.
Through planting, learning and giving, the Arbor Day activities provided meaningful opportunities for young people to connect with agriculture while reinforcing the importance of environmental responsibility.
The Barbados 4-H Foundation remains committed to helping young people develop practical skills and positive attitudes towards sustainability as we continue to sow the seeds for a greener and more sustainable future.
