Growing Skills, Growing Futures: 4-H Clubs Take on the 2025 Garden Competition

The Barbados 4-H Foundation’s Grow with 4-H Garden Competition 2025 gave participating clubs an opportunity to put their agricultural knowledge into practice while developing valuable skills in gardening, teamwork and environmental responsibility.

Participating clubs included LTGM Leopards, HIPS, Alleyne Griffins, Ellerton and CP Clovers, with clubs receiving soil mix and other support connected to the competition. Through the competition, members were encouraged to become actively involved in cultivating and caring for their gardens, providing a practical extension of the 4-H tradition of learning by doing. The initiative also encouraged young people to build an appreciation for agriculture, food production and the importance of caring for the environment.

The competition culminated in a Prize-Giving Ceremony at Agrofest 2026 on 27th February, where participating clubs were recognised for their efforts.

The Foundation also acknowledges the support of the individuals and organisations that contributed to the competition, including Mr. Haynesley Benn, Massy Farm and Garden Shop, Innotech Services Ltd. and Sustainable Barbados Recycling Centre Inc.

The Grow with 4-H Garden Competition demonstrated how agriculture can be used as a meaningful learning experience, allowing young people to develop patience, responsibility, teamwork and practical gardening skills while seeing the results of their hard work grow over time.

The Barbados 4-H Foundation congratulates all participating clubs and members for their commitment and looks forward to continuing to create opportunities that inspire young people to grow, learn and lead through agriculture.
