Growing Together: 4-H Member Plants Tree with the President of Barbados

Lawrence T. Gay Memorial School, Spooners Hill, St. Michael

The Barbados 4-H Foundation participated in the President’s Visit at Lawrence T. Gay Memorial Primary School on 14th May 2026, with representatives from the Foundation joining the school community for the special occasion.

The Foundation was represented by Mr. Thedore Fraser (4-H National Programme Coordinator), Ms. Faith Waithe (4-H Programme Associate) and Mr. Brandon Hewitt (4-H Field Officer), who attended the event in support of the school and its 4-H members.

A memorable highlight of the visit was the planting of a tree by the President of Barbados, His Excellency, Lieutenant Colonel The Most Honourable Jeffrey Bostic, F.B., M.V.O, and a 4-H member, creating a meaningful moment that reflected the importance of youth involvement, environmental responsibility and community participation. The occasion also provided an opportunity to highlight the role of 4-H in encouraging young people to take part in activities that promote leadership, service and care for the environment.

The Barbados 4-H Foundation was pleased to be part of this special visit and to see a young 4-H member participate in such a significant moment.
